Why I Blog
(audio version available at the end of this blog)
It feels great to blog again at Kinetic Coaching!
During my transition from Director of Coaching at Velocity to founder of Kinetic Coaching I had a variety of housekeeping tasks to complete. One was creating a website which I did with the help of Lev-Interactive.
Lesson Learned . . . Again
During this time without a website I stopped blogging. I felt like if I blogged without a place to post them (and reach my clients), then that effort would feel wasteful. I thought, “Heck I have plenty to keep me busy in the meantime, what’s the harm in breaking an old habit.”
I was wrong.
In fact my blogging habit was forged over three years at my previous company, with about a blog a week to show for it (the best of those are on this site).
Positive habits are hard to stick to and so easy to let go of (unlike their evil cousins the negative ones!), best never to take them for granted (again).
So it might be helpful then to put in writing why I blog.
I blog for me, for my clients and for prospective clients. Just because no one could read them during my transition does not mean I would not have benefitted a great deal from the process of sitting down, collecting my thoughts, and writing a themed blog as usual.
In fact, blogging grounds me as a person and as a coach. The habit is worth every effort and I will not make the same mistake twice.
The lesson for my readers? Do what it healthy for you not just because your efforts influence some audience, but because of the emotional and/or physical benefit you incur from within you.
The Kinetic Website
And so what of the new website?
I hope it looks and feels like what I value in my personal and professional life. Kinetic is about getting back to the basics of success. We argue that success is a process of goal achievement that enhances our emotional and physical well-being while we avoid the crippling cycle of burnout.
This process is methodical, scientific, and fun. It requires more than just the self; it requires a healthy dose of experimentation; and it requires time to assess the efficacy of our actions.
I call this philosophy of coaching Balanced Experimentalism. I use it all the time in my life and to help my clients grow in both their personal and professional lives.
Most of all, it is not a cookie-cutter approach. So I hope, like my coaching philosophy, my website reflects all that is uniquely “Kinetic”.
Simple, smooth, and great for clients on the move.
